DataNumen Outlook Password Recovery

Excellent program, and excellent customer support (among the best customer support I have experienced).

I was using Outlook 2010 on my last computer, which ran Windows 7. That computer died, though fortunately, I was backing up all my files (including Outlook pst files) onto an external drive. But I forgot the password for an encrypted pst file containing 14.5 GB of email and attachments (about seven years of email, some of which is extremely important to me).

I downloaded the trial version of DataNumen Outlook Password Recovery  (not to be mistaken with Outlook Repair or Outlook Drive Recovery) and started the recovery process,  but cancelled the operation just after it had begun so that I could copy the encrypted pst file to a different location to be sure I had a backup (forgetting I had a backup already in my Outlook Files directory). After that, I couldn't use the trial version again.

I bought the full version, but there was no way for me to enter my user ID and code into the trial version per the instructions to convert the trial version into the full version. So I emailed DataNumen. Within about 12 hours, they emailed me a download link for the full version, and instructed me to uninstall the trial version and then install the full version.

I had no problem uninstalling the trial version and installing the full version (version 1.2.1.0), and quickly obtained a password to access the encrypted pst file.

I just ran the operation again to see how long it took. The program decrypted my pst file in one minute and 47 seconds.

Incidentally, several other pst files on my Outlook Files directory, such as archived files, were not encrypted. I can't remember how I encrypted this pst file. You should use the trial version (you get to use it once) to be sure that the pst file you need to access is encrypted.

Last thing to mention: I have no idea whether the trial version would have decrypted a pst file as large as this one, or whether file size is irrelevant for the trial version.

This program is a lifesaver, and customer support was excellent (10 on a scale of 1 to 10). I just recovered about seven years of email. Unbelievable!
